Thanks for this post! I was fighting with this last night. I had an empty address book on my mac and everything working great between gmail and my iphone until….I pressed syncronize with gmail. all my contacts disappeared from everywhere! luckily i made a backup right before this.

One thing worth noting…make sure you gmail contacts are selected as your default contact list on your iphone. otherwise when you add contacts to your iphone it doesn't go to gmail.

Agh! Why aren't these articles DATED? With phrases like, "Google recently.." it is IMPERATIVELY RELEVANT to know what point in time the article was written; I had to read it thru and then notice the dates on the COMMENTS in order to glean that the article is more than a year old….

The sync every hour doesn't work. I don't have a google app domain though.

But manual sync OVA works fine – better then tethered iTunes Sync. Am using AddressBook as my master in this sync with Google Contacts and iPhone.

I finally can keep my Outlook contacts in synch with my Mac Address book (through gmail). Beautiful!

Thanks — this article was very helpful! I was trying to do this & was having issues when I only did Google Sync OR Exchange. It appears you have to do both (which seems like a bug?).
