Every now and then when setting up a new Apple Computer the name given to the computer that is viewed over the network and for the computer itself isn’t exactly the way we’d like it to be. Fortunately, changing your computers name is quick and easy.

To change the name of your Computer on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard:

  1. Open System Preferences
  2. FinderScreenSnapz001.png
  3. Select Sharing under Internet & Network
  4. System Preferences.png
  5. Under Computer Name: Change the name to what ever you’d like to call your Mac
  6. Sharing.png

Your computer should now appear as you’ve named it on your home network and when displayed internally on your computer.
