Sony’s Google TV Controller compared to Apple TV

I love Google products. I use Gmail, Google Apps and Google Reader daily and I couldn’t be happier with them. Sure, they’re not very pretty, but they are damn practical. But holy crap, the new controller for the Google TV is beyond hideous.

I don’t care what functionality it has, and I’m fairly sure you’ll be able to control it with an Android phone similarly to the Remote app on a Touch/iPad/iPhone, but this remote takes complexity to a level I thought we left in the 1980s. Doesn’t this thing look like something you’d see in WarGames?

Really can't see this fitting in well with the DVD and TV remote.

Seems the Apple TV and the Remote combined are smaller than the Google TV controller

While I obviously can’t speak to the thickness of the Google TV remote, there’s no way that thing fits in with an existing system. And what’s with the beige? Ugh.

Really glad I can just use my iPhone and/or iPad.
